Cath / Angiogram

Cardiac catheterization or angiogram is a minimally invasive imaging procedure. During the test, a long, narrow tube, called a catheter, is inserted into a blood vessel in your arm or leg and guided to your heart with the aid of a special X-ray machine. Patients are under conscious sedation during the entire procedure. Contrast dye is injected through the catheter so that X-ray films of your valves, coronary arteries, and heart chambers can be created. Catheterizations are generally considered safe procedures, but as with all test some risks do exist. Dr. Caldwell will discuss the patient's personal risks and benefits prior to the procedure.

Dr. Caldwell performs Catherizations / Angiograms at Texas Health Presby Denton and The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano depending on the patient's preference.
